When I was in college, I was given a privilege and favor to be part of a team to represent our school in a marketing plan contest. We flew to Manila and were introduced to an organization, helping a group of mothers making soaps, candles and other hand crafted items.  We were tasked to prepare a strategic marketing plan for them, and by God’s grace, our paper was chosen to be included in the top three (3) from the different prestigious universities all over the Philippines to proceed to the finals.

Little did I know that God is already preparing me to be of service to our micro enterprises in our region. I remembered praying after graduation, telling God my heart’s desires to work in a company where I could apply what I’ve learned from my undergraduate studies.  And after a few jobs, I was employed in Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc. under the Business Development Services Department.   I believe it was an answered prayer for me to be part of this organization.  It may not be a perfect company, but I believe that God is sovereign to place me where He wanted me to be.  I enjoyed assisting and helping different micro enterprises and see them grow.  However,  assisting micro enterprises does not produce instant results, the work has its own challenges and sometimes frustrating, however, God has taught me to the realities of life, to be patient and persevering and trust in His timing.

It is Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc. (TSKI) vision, headed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Angel L. de Leon, Jr. to be a major catalyst in empowering micro and small entrepreneurs to grow in their respective enterprises and to be self sufficient, not only through financial assistance but in the business development of their products and enterprises thus, the birth of Tinukib Foundation, Inc. (TFI).

As I continue my work in TSKI, I was given again a privilege and favor to oversee the operations of Tinukib Foundation, Inc. (TFI) a subsidiary company of TSKI, that serves as a marketing arm to help promote the products of our assisted client micro entrepreneurs and later opened its services to other Western Visayas producers. TFI envisions being a pillar and channel in providing marketing and business development services to the micro entrepreneurial poor towards a sustainable enterprise and holistic transformation.

Being with the foundation for the past three (3) years is no easy job, it is indeed a walk of faith.  I thank God for opening doors of opportunities, providing the right resources, support from the government and private sectors and especially from TSKI and for bringing the right people to work with and partner with.  I believe that empowering communities and enterprises cannot be done single handedly by one organization, but with the collective effort from both the private and public agencies.

It is in my heart and joy to see microenterprises not only to grow in their chosen craft or business but to discover that success in life is not measured on how much you have in your bank account or how big your business has become, but to be able to know God personally in their lives, and being able to understand His will and purposes, that as they continue to do their work, it will not just be a means to survive but it is fulfilling God’s calling for them.

We, in TFI will just continue to provide avenues for these micro entrepreneurs to jump start their enterprises, assist in product development and to promote their products whether through our pasalubong center, trade fairs and online shop.  We will not stop to innovate, learn, provide opportunities and explore the market to contribute in one way or another in empowering these local entrepreneurs towards sustainability, growth and holistic transformation of their individual lives and enterprises.

I just want to thank you for being a part of this journey, whether you are partner agency or a customer.  We believe that each of you plays a significant role.  May we never get tired of helping and assisting our micro enterprises and communities and may we continue to patronize our very own local products.  TINUKIB provides you with so many avenues to support them.

Let’s work hand in hand in contributing to our economic growth.  And let’s be reminded in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  May we continue to seek God first and may He alone be glorified in every endeavor we take.  Thank you very much.
